The practice of meditation and the state of calmness that comes from the practice has tremendous benefits for everyone. There are numerous health advantages that include better circulation, deep relaxation, increase in exercise tolerance, regularizing blood pressure, reduction of anxiety attacks and muscle tension, relieving arthritis pain, and many others. In addition, it is said that the practice of meditation is a path to awakening the spirit within. It starts us on a journey toward spiritual awakening.
With meditation, you are connecting with a part of yourself that lies within. You are going beyond the physical and even mental aspects of your person. You are reaching out to listen and connect to your inner self. This is a part of us that we often ignore or can’t hear because life is too loud and chaotic. Through meditation, we separate ourselves by going within to meet our inner self and separate if only for a while from the pressures of daily life. Once you tune into this inner self and begin to listen to the inner wisdom you will begin to understand the power of your higher self and the connection with divine beings who are always with us waiting to connect.
This connection with your higher self increases our understanding of how we can unite with the power and infinite knowledge of the Universe. You can tap into and see your life from another different perspective. Your journey without the blocks that are created in your mind but don’t exist in your higher self. This connection to your inner world and higher self will provide guidance toward immense happiness and fulfillment.
Many religions consider that by using meditation a person can reach enlightenment. I think there is more to reaching enlightenment than meditation alone, however, it is a great tool and something we all should utilize. Regardless of the religion of the techniques used they all agree that meditation is about listening to the inner self and releasing the burdens of our minds. Through listening and connecting to people have been known to achieve and experience bliss. Bliss is referred to as a natural state of the soul that cannot be experienced easily in daily life. When experiencing bliss, a person reaches a state of perfect happiness. I’m not sure I’ve ever reached bliss, but I have been deep into meditation and have experienced some incredible lessons. Other times when I’m deep in meditation I’m just still and at peace.
During this meditative state, the mind expands its consciousness and understanding of nature and the universe. Destructive thinking and behaviour can be released. A deeper understanding and knowledge will be available. There will be a knowing that the spirit is one with the universe.
